Toolkit: Vacation

You are responsible for setting up “coverage” while are you away. It is best to get coverage from someone in your class. Once you find coverage, just email the chiefs to get the final ok.

Peds: 2
Bone plain film: 1
Bone MR: 1 resident (but you must check that the fellows are there, you also need minimum of 1 fellow)
Body CT: 3 non-first year residents and/or fellows
Body MR: 2 residents and/or fellows
Bone plain film: 1 resident
US: 2 upper level residents and/or fellows
Chest CT: 1 resident/fellow
Chest plain film: 1 resident
Nucs: 2 residents
GI/GU: 2 residents
Neuro MR: 1 resident
Neuro CT: 1 resident
Mammo: 1 resident
ER: 1 resident
VA: minimum of 2 residents

You can only take 5 days off during your month at the VA. If you want to take extra days, you can “borrow” them from someone who will not be using vacation days during their VA rotation. You are not allowed to pull residents from the VA for coverage.

You will only be able to take vacation during IR under special circumstances and it must be okayed by Dr. Pollack. IR is usually a rotation during which you cannot take vacation as we need to meet certain requirements for residency.

The following Holidays are covered by first and second years. Your class can get together and fairly divide the holiday calls (note that the weekday evening ER shift the day prior to the holiday is considered a holiday shift). Also, second years cover the weekend holiday NF shift.
